Being that it so rare for shark bites, do you think it might have to do with a kiteboarder almost appearing as a top surface fishing lure? Kinda scary.

The surfer attack theory is that they may look similar to a seal from the sharks vantage point--I guess that may hold true for kiteboards as well. Sucks for that guy and his friends and fam.

Jas I know I have felt like chum dragging across the top of the water getting back to my board after losing it trying not to freak out cause I was in great white territory! but its always in the back of your head. like Jer said your in their environment.
